If it’s NOT working, runners usually:
👇
❌️AREN’T ACTUALLY LIFTING
❌️Aren’t lifting heavy
❌️Are doing crazy moves with HIIT that aren’t functional or benefitting their running

Lifting heavy will ONLY benefit your running 🔥

HEAVY WEIGHT plus GOOD FORM equals GREAT RESULTS, including:
✅️ Increased STRENGTH
✅️ Increased ENDURANCE
✅️ Increased METABOLISM
✅️ Improved running performance
✅️ Decreased chance of injury

It also means INCREASED SPEED because heavy lifting stimulates your high-energy, powerful type II muscle fibers which is essential for speed!

Too little weight is a WASTE OF TIME, and let me tell you, a lot of you aren’t pushing yourselves and aren’t lifting heavy enough!

When you do a set of 10 reps, the last two should be hard! If you aren’t questioning whether you should lighten up, you aren’t lifting heavy enough! High load, low reps is more effective for maximizing strength adaptations. When runners lift low load, high rep, they’re still not lifting enough to maximize gains in these parameters.

Lift heavy with proper form and then get that PROTEIN with leucine and BCAAs IMMEDIATELY after your workout. Lifting heavy will challenge your muscles so they breakdown and the protein will help repair and regrow your muscles so you build lean muscle and get stronger and faster!

❌️ And STOP being afraid of muscle bulk. You will NOT bulk up, ladies (unless you are actually trying and have a plan).

That TAX DAY, Marathon Monday, pre-vacation RUN 🙌

And both dogs got to come with today. It's Operation Tire Them Out 🤣 because my mom/parents will be watching all 4 for 9 days 😆

The few sprinkles we felt were refreshing, and I'm ready for this chapter of 2024 to be done 🤪

Time for prioritizing myself again 🙌 training, gardening, lake life, and more sleep.

Priorizing yourself is necessary.

You shouldn't be busy 24/7.

Rest in necessary.

You shouldn't say yes to everything and everyone. That means you are saying no to yourself and your well-being.

ANOTHER SATURDAY, ANOTHER LONG RUN Followed by 6

ANOTHER SATURDAY, ANOTHER LONG RUN

Followed by 6 hours of standing at the office 😅 2 more days before tax season is over and 4 day until we leave for our camping and hiking trip 🤩

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel 🙌

Saturday's long run didn't feel so hot for the first 5 miles, but as soon as I joined up with friends, I guess my mind was taken off how tired I felt. Ever since I went through corporate burnout, I don't do well on less than 8 hours of sleep per night... and that has unfortunately been happening too much these last 4 weeks.

Mile 19 thoughts included looking at a playground and thinking how good it would feel to sit on a swing and swing 😆 anyone else think that when passing a playground❓️

Runner's math kicked in at mile 15 when my friend hit her 10 miles and my brain was still telling me I also had 10 miles and had 10 to go 💀🤪

It also was 60 degrees when I finished around 9am 🥵 we hit 80 degrees yesterday. Heat training is in progress 😅

The #Glycerin21 continues to be loyal 🤌 I wear it for most of my runs 🤩

I guess those are all my ramblings about Saturday. Time for another day of working on athlete work and then the second to last day of tax season 🥳
